What is Health Coaching?
As a trained mindbodygreen health coach, my role is to create a partnership where we will co-explore any health and wellness changes, struggles, successes and/or goals you have. My scope as a health coach: I cannot prescribe, diagnose or treat any diseases or symptoms you come to me with. We also do not give you a specific meal plan or tell you what supplements you should be taking, that is something that you should work with a functional medicine MD, NP, PA, RD or a nutritionist. What we will work on together are behavior changes, creating accountability, support and motivation with any supplements, diets or medication that you have already been prescribed by a doctor or a dietitian. My background as a nurse means that I am able to have an understanding of your diseases, symptoms, lab values, etc. but I will be approaching our sessions through the lens of a health coach. At first, it may feel a little like therapy because the goal is to use motivational interviewing to pull out ideas and thoughts from you, especially in the beginning. It will be a lot of deep diving into your goals and figuring out your "why" for change so that we have a strong foundation before we begin actually setting specific goals to start achieving. Instead of focusing on your past like therapy usually does or focusing on the present like when you are talking with a doctor, we focus on your future and working together to get you to that future you are hoping for!
Do I need anything for our first session?
I am a strong believer in data so any labs, DEXA scans, glucose monitoring reports, etc. are always welcomed as a great way to track progress. I require free 20 minute phone consultations with all clients to go over everything to expect from our sessions so bring any questions you have to that first session.
What does Clover mean?
My last name Lutkewitte sounds like "Lucky-Witty" so my family loves to say that we are lucky and witty. I took this family moto to heart while I was starting this health coaching journey. How many sessions do I need?
My goal as a health coach is for you to eventually not need me! We will work together to help you create intrinsic autonomy in your journey. You will also discover ways to keep accountability in yourself so that you are able to eventually continue this life long journey without me. The number of sessions is individualized to the number of goals you are working to achieve.
How often should I have sessions?
Just like the number of sessions, the frequency of sessions is very individualized. I usually recommend sessions being every 2-6 weeks depending on the goal you are working on. At the end of each session, we will discuss the timing of our next session.
